The Medical University of Białystok was created by an order of the Council of Ministers signed on February 3, 1950. It is home to the Medical Department with a Division of Dentistry and a six-year M.D. program taught in English (English Division), the Pharmacology Department with a Medical Analytics Division, and a Nursing and Health Protection Department with divisions in Physiotherapy, Medical Rescue, Obstetrics, Public Health and Nursing. The 6-year MD program is designed for high school/secondary school graduates. The Medical University of Bialystok staff members are experts in their respective fields of study, members of scientific committees, and magazine editorial boards; many of them work as national and regional consultants.
